Mountain Waters Resort is presently located on the site of a fishing camp formerly operated by famous American sports fishermen Lee Wulff. The adventures of the American fisherman, who first established a camp on the river in the mid 1940's, earned the stream a reputation as a first class salmon river.

Say the name "Lee Wulff" to any fly-fisherman and images start spilling out like attractors from an old fly box. This man was known by many as the grandfather of catch-and-release fishing. One American Author said " If you had to invent a fly-fishing hero, it would have to be "Lee Wulff".

He first came to Portland Creek in the mid 1940's during the great depression. He was so delighted with the abundance of Atlantic Salmon in this river, he decided to set up camp on the river shore. Later, he developed a world class fishing resort where great friends of his were invited to fish.
